Have you checked out Utrecht.com’s Learning Center?

There are lots of tips, instructions, and plenty of educational information located at the Learning Center.  You can learn about everything from shapes of paintbrushes to different art contests companies are running.  It is a really great site to check out even if you don’t have a particular question in mind, you are bound to learn something new!

Featured item of the day

Keep an eye on this blog because I will be putting a featured item up almost daily. The items are also featured in our current Spring Sale flyer. These are chances to save big with Utrecht. Don’t miss the opportunity!

And onto today’s item:
Winsor&Newton Twin-packs
Sizes iand prices are as follows
11×14 for $4.44* regularly $11.59
12×16 for $5.55* regularly $11.79
16×20 for $6.66* regularly $16.99
18×24 for $7.77* regularly $20.99
*with free ArtSmart card

A word to the wise, these canvases while great in price are only double-primed (compared to Utrecht’s triple-primed) and a 7oz. cotton. So it is highly recommended that you do a little gessoing of your own especially if painting with oils. They are a great bargain though and work great for practice paintings and school assignments.

Welcome to Utrecht Columbus!

Hello, my name is Laura Kelley, I am the manager of Utrecht Columbus. I have been working at Utrecht for over 2 years. I started at the Columbus store as the Assistant Manager in January of 2006 and became Store Manager is April of 2006.

At the age of 17, I received a grant to the Cleveland Institute of Art based on my portfolio of work. I attended The Ohio State University for Painting and Drawing and worked as a model for the Fine Arts Department. In 2003, I worked as an intern at the Ohio Art League as the Assistant to the Gallery Director. I am a mixed media artist working primarily in acrylic, watercolor and gouache paints as well as collage and paper sculpture. My sculptures and paintings have been included in 5 group showings in Columbus. Right now I am really into bookmaking and altered books and I’m currently compiling my first complete altered book.

Utrecht Columbus is located at 612 N High St. between E. Russell St. and E Goodale St, across the street from Marcella’s in the Short North Arts District of Columbus.

Our regular business hours are Monday thru Saturday 9am to 8pm, and Sunday 12pm to 5pm.

We are a full service art supplies store carrying products from hundreds of national brands. We have both a guillotine and a rotary paper cutter available for customers’ convenience.

Here at Utrecht Columbus we have 4 fulltime employees including myself and my 2 Assistant Managers. My Sr. Assistant Manager, Julie, has been with Utrecht since April of 2007. She graduated from Rhode Island School of Design with a degree in Industrial Design and practices fiber art and watercolor. My Jr. Assistant Manager, Lauren, started working for Utrecht as a part time associate in January of 2007. She has her BFA from Ohio University and specializes in oil painting. If you have a question about oil paints, she’s the woman to ask!  Our fourth full time associate is Lucas, a self taught oil painter who has his own independent business as a customer framer and canvas stretcher.

We also have a very helpful staff of part time associates from a variety of artistic disciplines. Buddy is our resident sculptor and printmaker and is attending The Ohio State University for his Masters in City Planning. His stone carving demonstrations are always the most popular events in our store! Ashley also attends The Ohio State University, working towards her BFA in Drawing and Painting. Her mediums of choice are acrylic paint and mixed media. The ever-enthusiastic Bradford is about to finish his Illustration degree at Columbus College of Art and Design and is currently our official CCAD Campus Representative.

If you are looking for art supplies or need any help with your next project do not hesitate to stop by and ask anyone here for help. We’d love to see you!
