Utrecht Art Supplies is “Portraits”. Entries are open to all artists of any level and can be in any medium.  The purpose of this contest is to encourage creativity in our customers and to allow you a chance to expose your art to the general public.  Join us for the opening reception where you can help promote your artwork to the public and maybe make a little money too!  Prizes will be awarded during the opening reception on February 6th, 2010.   All the proceeds of artwork sales will go directly to you.  Entries will be taken on a first come, first served basis, and will be limited to two entries per artist. 

Eligibility:-        Artwork must be ready to hang when submitted.  -        Open to all artists of any level.-        Submissions must have been created in the last 5 years.-        Artwork must be no larger than 11”x14” (including framing and matting).-        Artwork must be appropriate for all ages.-        Artwork must be hand delivered by the artist, no shipped or emailed entries.-        All artwork submitted must be original (no copies or giclees). Submission Guidelines:-        Artists may submit up to two entries with a non-refundable entry fee of $5 per entry. (check, cash, or credit cards – no money orders) -        Actual artwork is to be submitted to
Utrecht Art Supplies during normal store hours from Jan 10th - Feb 5th, 2010. Artwork will hang from Feb. 6th - Feb 20th, 2010-        You will be supplied with entry forms when you drop off your artwork.  -        Each piece needs to have a sale price or be marked “NFS” (not for sale) on the entry form. -       
Utrecht reserves the right to refuse any and all submissions that do not adhere to official entry guidelines.  

Prizes:-        There will be three prizes given out during the opening reception.  -        First place: $25
Utrecht gift card.-        Second place: $15
Utrecht gift card.-        Community pick: $10
Utrecht gift card. Important Dates:-        Jan. 10th - Feb. 5th - Hand deliver artwork during normal store hours.-        Feb 6th, 6-9pm- Opening reception and awards presentation.

-        Feb 20th - Hand retrieval of artwork during normal store hours.

The Groveport Arts Festival being held on Memorial Day weekend is now accepting applications for its juried competition.  Please stop by their website for the application, www.GroveportArtsFestival.org.

They are especially looking for Ohio artists and talent from college age students as well.  Have a look!!

Some of our local patrons are having a show at Junctionview Studios, on Saturday July 26th, from 7 - 11 pm.  Check it out!

On the evening of May 15, Rachel Widomski, a Utrecht customer and a restaurant employee in the Short North, was seriously injured by a hit-and-run driver outside of Haiku restaurant. Rachel’s severe spinal cord injuries will leave her paralyzed for life. Please join us in a city-wide fundraising effort to help support Rachel and her family during her long road to recovery.

We aren’t as MySpace popular as we are in real life, so please please PLEASE!! add us by visiting our MySpace page. As many of you know, the Short North Arts District has a monthly Gallery Hop. The first Saturday of every month, many of the galleries host their art show openings. The galleries, shops, and restaurants are open later and there are lots of people walking about… ANYWAY… This day is exciting because at Utrecht Columbus it also means 20% off Utrecht Brand Products!!!!!!! It is a great time to stop in and buy stretcher bars, canvas, paint, gesso, all things Utrecht! This Saturday, April 5th, is April’s Gallery Hop so come down to the Short North and check out some new art and get some sweet deals on art supplies.

P.S. A hint for those coming just for the sweet deals on art supplies, come early in the day to avoid battling for parking spots. We are open 9am-9pm for Gallery Hop and the discount is good ALL day!!
