We now have airbrushes in the store!  We have a really nice starter kit for those of you who are looking to get into it for the first time, and we also have two very nice Iwata brushes and a variety of accessories in stock.  We also carry Createx airbrush paints!

We now carry a full line of Grumbacher Max Water-Mixable oil paint here at Utrecht Columbus.  These paints are perfect for the beginner as well as the experienced artist.  Their special formulation allows them to be thinned and cleaned with water, eliminating the need for harsh solvents like turpentine or mineral spirits.  They can also be used with traditional oil paints, however if you mix them with traditional oils, they will no longer be water mixable. (and yes, they are compatible with other brands of water-mixable oils!)

Our best selling 100% cotton American Masters Paper is now available in convenient pads. This multi-use paper is ideal for printmaking as well as all drawing and water based media. Choose from four popular sizes in white or multi-color pads.

Join us on Halloween night from 7-9 pm for our Monster Mash Party!  There will be discounts given to everyone in costume, door prizes, munchies and prices so low it’s scary! ( i know, that was corny, but i couldn’t help myself)  It will also be opening night for our Halloween “Monster Mash” art competition.  If you haven’t entered yet, stop by the store for an entry form and get all the details.

The theme for this month’s art show here at Utrecht Art Supplies is (as one would expect) Halloween! Entries are open to all artists of any level and can be in any medium.  Show us your best zombies, vampires, ghosts and ghouls!  Join us for the opening reception where you can help promote your artwork to the public and maybe make a little money too!  Prizes will be awarded during the opening reception/ costume party on October 31st, 2009.  Great discounts will be given to all submitting artists and to anyone in costume!  All the proceeds of artwork sales will go directly to you.  Entries will be taken on a first come, first served basis, and will be limited to two entries per artist. 

Eligibility:-        Artwork must be ready to hang when submitted.  -        Open to all artists of any level.-        Submissions must have been created in the last 5 years.-        Artwork must be no larger than 11”x14” (including framing and matting).-        Artwork must be appropriate for all ages.-        Artwork must be hand delivered by the artist, no shipped or emailed entries.-        All artwork submitted must be original (no copies or giclees). 

Submission Guidelines:-        Artists may submit up to two entries with a non-refundable entry fee of $5 per entry. (check, cash, or credit cards – no money orders) -        Actual artwork is to be submitted to
Utrecht Art Supplies during normal store hours from October 18th to October 31st, 2009.-        You will be supplied with entry forms when you drop off your artwork.  -        Each piece needs to have a sale price or be marked “NFS” (not for sale) on the entry form. -       
Utrecht reserves the right to refuse any and all submissions that do not adhere to official entry guidelines.  

Prizes:-        There will be three prizes given out during the opening reception.  -        First place: $25
Utrecht gift card.-        Second place: $15
Utrecht gift card.-        Community pick: $10
Utrecht gift card. 

Important Dates:-        Oct 18th - Oct. 31st - Hand deliver artwork during normal store hours.-        Oct. 31st, 2009, 7-9pm- Opening reception/ Cosume party and awards presentation.-        November 15th - Hand retrieval of artwork during normal store hours.
